Green KPIs
Structuring and Measuring Sustainability Action
Green KPIs are the core performance framework of G4Green. They translate sustainability ambition into clear, measurable, and comparable actions, enabling organisations to manage sustainability across corporate ecosystems.
Each Green KPI is associated with a KPI ID, which provides a clear and consistent reference for the KPI’s purpose, scope, and eligibility criteria. The KPI ID may include optional informational attributes, such as sponsorship references or impact signals, without affecting how the KPI functions.
Assigned Green KPIs
Green KPIs enable organisations to turn sustainability goals into coordinated and measurable action across ecosystems and internal communities. G4Green supports two complementary types of Green KPIs.
Ecosystem Green KPIs
Green Leaders may assign structured Green KPIs to affiliated suppliers, members, subsidiaries, partners, or other ecosystem participants. These KPIs:
Enable coordinated and measurable sustainability action across networks
Support supply-chain engagement, awareness campaigns, and targeted initiatives
Allow Green Leaders to track progress, compare performance, and identify engagement opportunities
May be linked to Impact Token incentives, recognition programmes, or verified sustainability outcomes
Ecosystem Green KPIs help transform sustainability ambitions into collective action across corporate and community networks.
Internal Engagement Green KPIs
Green Leaders may also assign Green KPIs internally to employees, teams, students, members, citizens, or other individual participants within their organisation or community. These KPIs allow organisations to:
Engage people in measurable sustainability participation
Encourage behavioural change and sustainability awareness
Structure internal sustainability initiatives and campaigns
Incentivise participation through Impact Tokens and recognition mechanisms
Demonstrate visible engagement and collective progress
Internal Engagement Green KPIs help bring sustainability closer to people by turning sustainability objectives into practical and participatory action.
Green KPI Library & Customisation
G4Green provides a curated library of pre-defined Green KPIs covering key sustainability and engagement dimensions. Green Leaders and organisations may select only the relevant KPIs or define custom KPIs tailored to specific sectors, communities, internal engagement programmes, or supply-chain objectives. Each KPI is issued with a KPI ID to support consistency, transparency, and comparability across participating organisations.
KPIs can be assigned:
- Across an entire ecosystem
- To specific stakeholder groups or tiers
- Internally to employees, teams, members, or individual participants
- Through targeted sustainability campaigns and engagement initiatives
Verification & Publication
Green KPI completion is supported by evidence-based verification
Verification levels may vary depending on KPI type
Only approved or aggregated results are made public
Individual data remains under the control of the participating organisation.
Public visibility of Green KPI data is governed by the visibility settings selected by the participating organisation.
Green KPIs, Ratings & Impact Tokens
- Verified Green KPI performance contributes to Green Rating outcomes
- Completed Green KPIs may be linked to Impact Token incentives, where applicable
- Green KPIs help transform sustainability objectives into measurable and visible action across organisations, ecosystems, and communities
This creates a structured link between measurement, recognition, and action, while keeping participation voluntary and incentives transparent.
